Texas Children’s Neuroscience Center is a comprehensive destination for children suffering from common neurological conditions like epilepsy and muscular dystrophy to more complex and rare disorders like lissencephaly and Rett Syndrome. Expert teams of neurologists, specially trained doctors in investigating and diagnosing neurological conditions, come together with neurosurgeons, to deliver complete care in more than 12 specialty clinics. The Neuroscience Center is comprised of these areas of expertise: neurology, neurosurgery, neurophysiology, neurological critical care, and genetics. By combining clinical care with easy access to surgery, the Neuroscience Center offers patients and their families access to one comprehensive treatment location. The Neuroscience Center cares for patients with a multidisciplinary team approach with involvement from neuro psychiatrists, social workers, inpatient rehabilitation therapists, ophthalmologists, cardiologists, genetics and other specialties. Texas Children’s Hospital is one of the largest pediatric neurological service providers in the country. On average, more than 30,000 clinic visits take place every year and more than 900 surgeries are performed by providers in the Neuroscience Center. Neuroscience team members are also active participants and consultants in the hospital’s Trauma Program. The Level 1 trauma center at Texas Children’s, the largest pediatric emergency center in South Central Texas, cares for children with a broad spectrum of traumatic injuries.
